1)Display settings

Display Mode Settings: Full Screen.

Fullscreen is the best option to go for any game. Distractions like borders make you lose focus when playing a very competitive game like Ring of Elysium

Resolution Settings: Use Your Max Resolution

Using your default resolution is the best choice for performance and quality balance unless your PC is too old to run at the default resolution.

But if you need to reduce it below 720p, then it is better not to play the game. You’ll end up in this situation; other players will spot you, but you won’t be able to spot them — a terrible disadvantage for an online game. You will be massacred!

V-Sync: Off

Disable this as it only creates lags by dropping FPS to match the screen refresh rate.

FPP Camera FOV: 103 or (default)

This is a personal preference, but all the pro players I asked prefer to maximize their FOV.

A wider field of view (FOV) increases what you can see from the player’s viewpoint and helps spot enemies. Lower values will improve your performance in the Ring of Elysium. Test and see what you’re comfortable with. Otherwise, leave it at default.

In-Game FPS Cap: Unlimited or Display Based depending on your system.

If you have a better display and a decent graphics card, then limit the FPS to your screen’s refresh rate. (60,120,144,244) etc.

Note: unlocking the frame rate might cause overheating problems if your system has heating issues or if you are using a laptop.

Lobby FPS Cap: Doesn’t Matter

Film Grain: Disable

This adds a filmy effect to the game. Personally, I did not like it. It also does not help the gameplay in any way. So I recommend you disable this effect.

Chromatic Aberration: Off

Unnecessary graphics effects. You can turn them off for more FPS

Vignette: Off

Similar to Chromatic Aberration gives extra but unnecessary graphics effects that you can disable to boost your FPS

Sharpen: Low or Medium

Sharpen is excellent for spotting players and has a minor effect on FPS. Set this to medium. The graphics improvement is worth the 2-3 FPS drop. Turn it to low only as a last resort.

2) Quality Settings

DirectX12: Enable for New Systems. Disable for Older Systems

This setting depends on your graphic card. Newer graphics cards, even if they are not high end will benefit from this setting. Old graphics that do not support DX12 properly will only result in lagging.

Resolution Scale: 100 or 90.

Do not change this setting unless you have no other option. Going below 100 will cause blurry textures and will mess up your gameplay.

Graphics Quality:  CUSTOM

We will review each setting and specify each according to our needs and gaming requirements in the Ring of Elysium

So let’s begin:

Anti-Aliasing: FXAA.

This setting has a Huge impact on FPS, unless you have a good graphics card, go with FXAA. This is the most recommended setting.

Ambient Occlusion: Off

Minor effect on graphics you can safely turn it off to get better FPS for Ring of Elysium.

View Distance: Medium or High

It gives a helpful advantage in terms of spotting players. It also helps in sniping and spotting locations. So set it to Medium or High

Lighting Quality: Low or Medium

Lighting quality is best set to low or medium. It does help in sniping but takes a lot in terms of performance and graphics. Set it to low for the best FPS.

Shadows: Very Low.

It has the 2nd biggest impact on FPS right after Textures. Always choose ‘very low’. You need the extra performance for textures. To save performance as much as you can always go with very low shadows.

Textures: Medium/High.

The texture quality setting in Ring of Elysium is most essential for your gameplay. Make sure you use the best quality you can use. If you a 4GB graphics or higher go with high settings. This will help you spot players and get easy kills. Especially while sniping. This is why you were saving performance.

Vegetation: Very Low.

Always set this to very low. It doesn’t matter if you have an RTX 2080TI. Keep it very low. No other setting can help you spot hidden players around the MAP as this setting can. So keep it as low as possible.

Terrain: Very Low.

This option affects the terrain and can help spot enemies. Sniper players should always set it to very low. You will get better FPS and smoother gameplay in Ring of Elysium.

Effects: Low

This setting impacts sniper flash so snipers should put it on high. Everyone else can set it on low.

This impacts FPS a lot so Low is the recommended setting for most players.

Volume Cloud Quality: Off

It is an unnecessary effect that can be turned off for the best performance and graphics setting.

Once you are done with choosing your settings, click Apply to save the changes you just made.
